Coeur de Marie collier
Galvanized copper
France, c. 1970-1980
Suspended along the clavicle, this Coeur de Marie collier draws the eye and the breath to a liminal space between the ornamental and the visceral. Cast in galvanized copper with traces of gilt, its form mirrors the dicentra spectabilis, the bleeding heart, rendered here as a botanical reliquary. The effect is anatomical, devotional, and quietly surreal.
